    p/s box d1

well i have just changed the power steering box on my d1
my question is i see theres a bleed like nipple similar to a brake caliper, whats this for? to bleed the power steer system?

if so any 1 have any ideas how to do it, or should just jack the car up fill with fluid and turn steering wheel form left to right etc etc?

i have searched and found nothing, also would use the rave cd but my son has scratched the S@#T out of it

    thanks again

I've just done mine too. Loosen the nipple a little and fill the reservoir with fluid and it may bleed ok by itself keep refilling the reservoir and soon you get fluid at the nipple. OR you may need to turn the steering from lock to lock or start the car and use the pump. Be careful if you do this you'll get fluid everywhere spraying out of the nipple - very messy very quickly!!

On the whole it's not a tricky job.

It's to bleed the system. Once you filled the system up open the bleed nipple to let the air out as much you can with out the engine running.when the engine is running open up the bleed nipple to let the air out once you have done that close the nipple then turning steering lock to lock then open the bleed nipple just to make sure there is no more air. Do not turn the steering with the bleed screw open otherwise you will get a big fountain of hi pressure fluid. Just repeat until groaning has gone and assistance is ok. Just keep an eye on the fluid level when you are doing this
