Post Austrailian Disco Series 1 ECM\ECU Location

    Hi there guys...

I am hoping you are all doing well... i'm new here so please bare with me.

I've recently brought a series 1 discovery which was owned from new by my next door neighbour ... it has been serviced consistently by land rover and is in mint condition with 208ks on the clock.

What i would like to do is locate the ecu (Engine copntrol module-- ecu or ecm) i have the rave land rover manual etc.. which says it is either behind the glovebox or behind the right footwell/facia panel or in the engine bay on the right side etc.... it is in neither place in the disco (aus Righ-HAND DRIVE model) i even looked under the consul between the seats.
Nor is it under the seats.

Behind\under the glovebox is the ABS ecu, the window winder ecu and two greeen colored junction boxes (the wabco ABS module is a big silver box that looks like an over sized engine control module so i doubt that is it) ... it looks like this pic from the range rover.... See this link

Does anyone know where the ECM\ECU is actually located?

Once i locate it i want to find out what sort of ecu it is e.g a 14cu or 14cux so that i can make a decision as to how to chip or replace it with a 14cux along with injectors from a 4.2ltr... i will also put an electric supercharger on it and upgrade the Air sensor etc.. this should (according to my research) give it a lot more power and make the engine more tractible in different sitatuations.

see this page for more info...

    Hot Damn i found IT!!
It took me 4 hours to find it.. The thing is way way up mounted on the inside of the footwell pillar it is not technically behind the the footwell facia at all. Nor is it behind the kick panel; you cannot see it unless you remove the facia panel under the instrument panel\steering column on the right hand side and get your head down onto the floor and look up to the right skyward.

    It is a 14CUX.
Injectors for 3.9 to 4.6 are the same ( Lucas"green band"). There are a number of threads on changing for Ford yellow Bosch Gen 111 injectors.

You will gain nothing from using ( I presume ) a38A MAF unless you have a 4.6

The best bang for the buck is a piggyback chip from Haltech or Unichip which takes over mapping the ignition timing as most gains are from more advance not injection as the injection Fuel air ratios are pretty good..

ELECTRIC SUPERCHARGER? I'd like to see that. Seriously the only ones that work draw 200-400amps for drag racing in very short bursts.
Perhaps do a number of searches on this site on 3.9 and you will see a lot of people have done mods and can recommend what works and what doesn't.

Thanks for that even if it's an old thread, I'm a new owner & am doing a LOT of searching for different info
