Air-conditioning condenser(?) fan – the one at the front.

I was doing some maintenance on the 2001 TD5 110 and noticed that when I turned the air con on the fan didn’t activate (condenser the one at the front of the 110).

My understanding was that the fan always kicked in when the aircon was switched on or when the ECU detected an “over heat” in the engine the ECU would activate the fan to draw additional air.

I was doing the checking in my garage after an oil change so the engine hadn’t reached operating tem nor was the aircon on for long.

    Thanks

yep should turn on if the A/C is turned on.

try it again and see if it turns on when the compressor clutch engages, if it doesn't then definitely something wrong

Better still unplug it and bridge it straight to the battery and see if it works. That will give you are starting point for investigation backwards.
