Don't limit it to your opinion, it's a basic fact, hell I've even quoted you on that when someone starts on the "mighty 4BD1 note".

As a 200Tdi owner I can't see, or maybe that should hear, why you would want to change the sound. The old girl is loud enough without tweeking the exhaustAnyway good luck with your project. The last few inches of my tailpipe have gotten very thin in the last 12 months but the rest of the system is as solid as a rock

Fortunately I was talked out of changing exhausts, by an exhaust shop no less. They took me for a spin in another 300 auto they were doing, 3" no mufflers, sounded like a gutless struggling boat. Customer was hell bent on it.

May get away with it on the manuals, but it sounded double on an auto.

haha na all your opinions have been a great help. I live in the northern suburbs of Perth and no matter what mod i want to do, or where i go know one knows land rovers especially defenders so its been good to get some experienced opinions for once.

My exhaust is rusted through and has a few holes so i need to replace it. The 2.5" with the rear resonator sounds like the way to go maybe

Unless it's going to cost more, replace it with a standard system. If you've got a 200tDi, then that exhaust has been going strong for at least 19-20 years.....
