The Best Oil Filter I Could Find

I have been doing some research about oil filters and was quite smitten on the by pass toilet paper filter by jack master on e bay now. But i cant be bothered and did not know where to fit it so, i did some more reading and found that z9 filters fit my car and i could change them at 5k oil at 10k but the micron ratings were the same as was the filtration percentage (about 25 microns at 50%).
But then i found Baldwins B2-HPG which filters at 22 microns at 99%. Now all i need to do is find the best value and quality oil.

I don't know what vehicle you have but if it's a 300Tdi then be careful with the Z9 as it is longer than the spec filter.

Way way back the previous owner of my ex Disco fitted a Z9 and I found out the hard way. On full front suspension compression driving through a dip on a country road the differential had punched a hole in the filter...I was very lucky to get away without major damage to the engine.

You are wrong if it is a V8 3.9 with an oil cooler. OK in a 3.5.

Well I was the bunny who found out and no it wasn't as a result of over exuberance. The top of pumpkin on the diff is exactly lined up with the bottom of the filter and with (soft)standard suspension every mm counts.

FYI another common filter that shares the same thread and seal size as the Z9 and Z89 is the compact-sized Z418. It is common in Toyotas including the later 6 & V8 Cruisers, Hiluxes and Prados. It is about 10mm shorter and 15mm smaller in diameter than the Z89.

There are other baldwin and the like that will be shorter. Just be careful of the seal size. I have a variety of options for the D2 from 100um to 2um but some weep as while the dimensions and thread are ok the seals are slightly different.

Yep, a Z9 size filter on a 300Tdi hits the top of the diff.

Judicious grinding of the top of the lift out centre can alleviate the problem but doesn't entirely fix it. (well, it mostly does, I can go twelve months now without a mark on the filter but it can kiss it under extreme bump stop compression. Takes about 22mm of bump stop compression to do it, but it can still happen)

BTW, Beta2 and Beta75 numbers only tell part of the story in regards to a filter.
While the HPG filter is very good, (and one of the best) Donaldson's P169071 and Fleetgaurds equivalent Stratapore filter beat it in flow and capacity hands down while having the same Beta2 numbers. (beta2=6, beta75=22)

I've listed specs for a stack of oil filters in the past but can't seem to find them ATM.

    Red face price

yes those filters are the same fitting and specs as the b2hpg but they are nearly twice the cost with the fleet guard at just under $40 so i could not justify it. The b2hpg is 22 in wagga and i got it down to 16 from overseas. My car has been lifted 50 mm so i think it is ok on mine.
