    crankshaft pulley on D1 1992

    Hi all,
    Is there a particular way that you get the crankshaft pulley off a 92 tdi,my mechanic is having a hard time trying to get mine off.Already busted 1 of his tools that he uses to pry then off.

    If your mechanic is prying your crankshaft damper/pulley off, he has probably stuffed it up and may have damaged the timing cover as well. The correct way is to use a puller that attaches to the centre hub with a drawing bolt pressing on the crank snout, I would inspect his handywork for damage and then find a real mechanic, Regards Frank.

    I agree with Tank.
    The only way to remove them without causing damage is to use a puller. There should be threaded holes in the front of the pulley/balancer to bolt the puller to.
