Another d2 td5 auto shudder thread!
Hi Everyone,
I looked at a D2 td5 earlier this weekend on behalf of a freind.
It is a 2000 td5 auto, with 220k km on the clock.
I didnt drive it, but from the passenger seat, when accelerating under load, could feel a shudder. It was more pronounced from the drivers seat and could be felt through the steering wheel. It is quite noticeable.
I immediately thought engine mounts but these were changed under 20k km ago.
It also has a brand new front shaft, and had a $4k+ auto rebuild under 30k km ago (I can't recall what was listed in the box rebuild invoice). Its also recently had a new throttle pedal.
In short the car looks very well looked after, but they may have been chasing this shudder for the last few thousand K's?
What else could cause this?
Torque convertor? gearbox mounts?
I didn't drive it so cant comment too much on if it could be modulated under revs/ load etc.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Edit to add, The shudder could also be felt in neutral, with the engine running. It wasn't as bad though.
Maybe Harmonic balancer?
