Restarting diesel after sitting in a shed for five years.

Looking at something interesting, found a Defender that's been sitting for a while.

No Pedro, not sitting in my shed.

What do I do to get it started?

Prime the fuel, check the oil, good battery and see what it'll do.

    Assuming a 200/300 Tdi, I would:

-Check the oil is still OK - i.e. sufficiently fluid (could do an oil and filter change if worried).

-Disconnect the wire to the IP solenoid so it won't start, and crank till you have full oil pressure.

-Then reconnect wire and see if it will start - if not, prime fuel and or crack injector lines to make sure no air or stale fuel.

I'd change the oil and prime with the fuel solenoid disconnected. No question about it. Pat
