Just discovered if you have a discovery you dont leave the key on.
Burnt out the coil, replaced it checked rectifiers still wont fire. Can anyone HELP
A wiring diagram would help

Shouldn't make any difference, the coil only carries current while the engine is turning. Probably your ignition amplifier is fried, or the negative side of the coil is shorted to ground. What year is your Disco? What rectifiers???Originally Posted by mundee

Its a 94 disco 3.9 v8
The rectifiers are located near the coil and apparently they send a message to the computer about the timing of firing
They are 6.8 k/ohms
I have ordered a manual, then should be able to find ignition amplifier

94 with vee belts has the amp screwed to the side of the distributor. You need to spin the dissy around a bit and move the alternator tensioner arm to the side, then you can get at it. PM me if you want one, I have some spare that I won't use. They come out during Bosch amp upgrades. There will be a 2 wire or a 3 wire plug on it.
Oh and its a resistor, not a rectifier. That's what confused me!
