Rubber is stuffed. Any way of fixing that or is it a bin job?

Just a note. If you take the starter motor out you can stick an extension though the whole in the fly wheel to lock the engine to get it undone.
Note add in wanted section.

If I find a good balancer second hand but with 200,000 km on it , should I replace the bearing anyway or does that run the risk of unbalancing the unit?
Matt
Hi all, I read all your post re TD5 harmonic balancer, mine too rattled mostly with the air con on. I removed it bearing stuffed, I have pulled it apart as per instruction, fitted a new bearing and I am about to give it a run, so far so good. I found you need a press to remove install bearing( should have taken pics) and the large torque wrench has been a bit hard to borrow, ended up buying one $179.00 bearing was $11 so cheap repair if it works.
I have done 200km or so now and it's all going well, no noise from harmonic balancer, it all seem to be running smooth. If you catch the bearing in time, and the rubber appears ok I would give this a go, replace the bearing instead of buying a new balancer .It is a time consuming but worth a go.
Just wondering leo if your repair held up.
Sorry guys! I have seen the light and returned. I sold on the pulley as I had already bought a new one and repaired the original “to see if I could”. Never heard any complaints! As long as the rubber is basically sound, it should be great.
Cheers, Dave
