Hi,
I have done house windows with commercial grade tinting.
It is easy enough to get a good job, difficult to get it perfect.
That was of course on flat windows, compound curve vehicle windows would I imagine be a nightmare.
cheers
Was wondering if any one has tried out the diy window tint off ebay,if so how did it turn out and was id hard to put on ?

I've thought about it for my 110 Ute.
I don't want to end up with bubbly tint down the track though.
My advice get it done by a pro, not that expensive these days.
To DYI, you stand back admiring your workmanship, and the you look closer and a hair or bit of dust in ruining your job., bubbling probs. You kick your self. or mates come and find faults with it
Get a pro job, you kick them to get it fixed![]()
Yeah ,Just done my D3 with it , Easy , it all in the Prep and the magic ingredients (Johnsons baby shampoo !!)Found that the Kit was extremely accurate in the pre-cut sizes Well worth the $80 for the kit versus $400plus from the tinter and besides you get a much better/darker tint, but legal mind you , Made a **** load of difference to interior heat ,especially in the Pilbara !! The standard green tinted glass is useless !!
any before and after pics? i want to try it on my D1
There aint no Compound curve windows on my RRC or my D1 or my D3 , you just have to do the preps properly and take your time . The biggest hassle is the inbuilt radio attenna and demister lines on the rear and rear side glass . then its only a mattter of changing the Squeegee direction . The Sliding windows are the hardest , but using seal retracters fixes them ! Ive got some before and after photos . in the meantime theres a 101 different Videos on youtube that show you how to do it !!
Its a pity no one does these pre-cut kits for the old RRC
i did a falcon way back and it turned out ok , kmart was selling the film at the time . you have to get the glass clean and by that i went over all the glass with a razor blade held as flat as i could get it, did this twice then washed the glass . on the packet it said not to do if the temp was above 26c for a few days and it should be done in a dust free environment, next time it will get done by the pros
Got mine done about 7yrs ago by a "PRO" in Melb with a Lifetime warranty? Was great for a while. Now living in darwin the last few years. bubbling on the rear doors, peeling on the front doors as they get used alot. fair enough for the tropics, but I thought that the tint was FADE RESISTANT!! Took an old Ritter Automotive sticker off the rear window and saw what a difference the tint was. Under sticker was like new (Dark) and everything else was Faded, although the standard of fitting was very good. No wonder the idiots with their "Driving lights" from behind me at night seemed a bit bright with their headlights.
Looking at getting it Re-installed sometime to get the temps down in the car.
Another $500-700 (inc remove the old stuff) down the drain. Oh Well.
cheers Luke

I have the metal tint on my D1 and it realy effects the alarm remote.
Have to be right beside the mirrors for the doors to lock or unlock.
