    Wiper question

    Hi,

Have searched and found no definitive answer.

81 RRC wiring, has Lucas intermittent black box. Arrangement seems generic across many LR variants.

Symptoms: Wipers won't work on intermittent setting or squirt and five swipe setting. Wipers work on all other settings but won't park.

No visible probs inside or with black box. Earth good.

Need to know if the prob is likely inside the wiper gearbox cap switching before I have a go at opening it up. (procedure in situ looks to involve skinned knuckles and plenty of swearing).

    TIA, DL

Well its definitely not a park switch prob because a spare whole wiper unit does the the same thing when plugged into the circuit.

Black box looks fine, switch innards look fine................................

    Wiper relay

The wiper relay AMR2341 is applicable for defender tdi's and RRC to vin:LA647644
    It should be there somewhere!
Have a look at this link for the photo, if you wish to buy one in Aus, expect to pay around $80 - $90...
Or if you have some Army mates: NSN 2540997090106

Thanks, but it doesn't have a relay like that. The delay unit is black (Lucas, but not black from smoke creation) and about the size of a ciggy packet.

    cheers, DL

    OK, for info:

The parking problem turned out to be in the switch. Swapped over a thin copper strip inside and all is good again.

Loss of intermittent is still a mystery.
