Use citric acid flush. Mercedes Benz do a 500g crystal, part number is A000 989 10 25 11 if my memory banks serve me correctly.
Even after a generic radiator flush, this stuff will remove hard scale and crap from every nook and cranny in the cooling system without damaging metal or seal material.
Try Mercedes Benz Huntingwood, think they have it there. won't be cheap but in context to actually having to remove a radiator, well
worth it. Matter of fact, I might look at a special buy on it being the Benz distributor over here

.... For Safety sake ....
That air method .... When I said "a burst of air" ... I mean about 1/4 of a second
It's usually best done with a compressor that has a air Tap .... if you have the standard Female coupling ... Hold the retaining ring "open" with 1 hand as you insert the hose with other hand .... Don't let go of the retaining ring ...
Andrew's product sounds OK tho
Cheers
Mike
Diana, I have used this product before and it works superbly, RMI Source | RMI-25 Cooling System Treatment
Cheers Charlie
PS Forgot to mention that it works so well, it is a good idea to fit a filter in the top hose, even if only on a temporary basis, to catch any lumps. On my P6 it removed all of the hard-water lime deposits!
