    Series diesel fuel tank flushing.

    Hey All,

Just picked up a S2A with twin diesel tanks. I emptied them today, the result - drivers side main ..... around 4 gallons of opaque orange juice coloured stuff, that smells like kero. -passengers side aux ..... 1/2 ltr of water and about 3 gallons of same coloured fuel as main.

My question is, what is the best way to flush these? I was going to add 2 gallons of fresh to each and go for a spin on the property then empty, but if there is a better way / chemical / method, I'd love to hear from you.

    Thanks and Cheers,
    Daryl.

    Tank clean

If you can get hold of a steam or pressurised hot water cleaner is one of the best gunge cleaners. Cup of metho WHEN COOLED DOWN to pick up any residual moisture. shake well and reinstall.

Hi Benny_IIA. How many tanks did you do and with what quantity of Red-Kote? Also, how did you clean the tank/s before using the Red-Kote?

    Thanks and Cheers,
    Daryl.

I was a small bottle i think around 500ml's- there is some left i think (will look tomorrow in the day light)

I did the twin 5 gallon tanks in my mini.

I just washed it out with petrol and water then left them to dry out for a few days.

Great, thanks Benny-IIA. Just got around to checking the main tank I drained and it has crud/corrosion over the walls, so I'll eventually remove it and probably do as you did.

    Cheers,
    Daz
