3.5 Disco running like a dog....

    Hi Guys/Girls,

The tow vehicle (93 Disco) is having a few issues, i thought before I go replacing too much I would seek some expert advice.

On a cold start up it is fine from idle right through the rev range. Once it heats up it will still idle but starts to break down under revs/load, this includes missing and back firing. The timing has been done and leads are less than 12m/5000k's old. Plugs however are about 4y/o but only 15000k's at th most. It is a injected 3.5l on petrol.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great?

    Cheers
    Brice

P.S. does anyone know of an adapter kit to fit a ford motor? :-)

Why don't you change the plugs and see if that helps, at least you should be able to "read" the plugs for further diagnosis, could be a number of things, so eliminate the plugs first. Could be Coil or Amp on dissy, Regards Frank.

Hi Brice, I think that a change of ign amp is in order. They usually play up when hot. Check the "Good Oil" section for BeeUteys ign amp module change to the Bosch type. More reliable in the long run. Bob

Likely to be the ignition amp, sounds like a few I have met that way. The Bosch conversion generally fixes it. Also swap the coil at the same time.

G`day , when Frank suggests reading the plugs , he is saying that from their colour and condition , they will point out if it is ignition or fuel .

If you describe your plugs you may save yourself time and money .

If you don`t know the age of the fuel filter it may need replacing a crook pump may also act as described as well as the amp or rotor or leads .

Have alook under the bonnet in the dark with the engine running
