    3.9EFI Coolant / Heater Valve

    Hi,
I’ve a 3.9 EFI V8, after recent look at a mates over the weekend, I noticed on top of the LHD rocker cover a sluice gate / valve for the heater controls, looked at mine nothing, the part code is BTR 4022,

On mine from what I can see the coolant is always passing into the heater box regardless, if it needs it or not.

So in theory if my internal dampers aren’t sealing correctly the A/C would be made to work that little harder, as leaking warm air is entering the A/C outlet, according tp the view in the rave cd.

Are all the EFI V8’s having this sluice gate / valve?

    Cheers
    Jim

Only the earlier ones I believe. You could retrofit one I suppose, if you can find a way of controlling the vacuum to it. VS to VY V6 Commodores use a similar 4-port valve, costs around $30.
