Stone in tyre tread?
Something stuck under the car?
It could be anything really but have you jacked up & spun each wheel?
Hi,
After searching the forums i came up with a few possible explanations which when i got under the car noticed they weren't the problem.
Yesterday the disco developed a strange noise, almost like a ticking noise, like metal hitting plastic.
Doesn't do it when idle, no matter what the revs are. Only when driving, going over 15km/h it starts and is a constant rate all the way up to 70km/h (haven't had a chance to go faster). Revs when in motion don't change it either.
At first i thought it was from the new front window regulator i put in, then i read about some rattles from body mounts near the handbrake drum. Can't seem to figure it out.
Please help.
Someone mentioned it may be the timing belt, i bloody hope not, they are a pain to change.
Thank you in advance.

Im gonna put a vote in for loose exhaust mount bracket... probably the middle one near the gearbag...

Check the rear/front brake backing plates aren't loose or rattling, Regards Frank.
Developed a bad rattle in my TDI disco today. Loose wheel nuts, and shock bottom rubbers have gone.
thanks everyone for the input, i've got new shocks sitting waiting to be put in so i think i can check all that when it's off the ground.![]()
So the small noise is now worse, only worse when accelerating as soon as I take foot off the throttle it goes, still small noise at any speed.
My question is, what moves only under acceleration that could rattle, someone reckons the fuel system, thought I'd ask the LR experts first
Cheers

...maybe... if I've understood correctly he says it's related to road speed rather than engine revs
I know that with auto box this can happen
I had a funny tick tick tick noise under acceleration/load only, not at idle at any rpm.
It turned out to be a loose injector, quick spin of the spanner and all fixed.
