Help! Spider problems
After posting earlier in the week about a faint red light on my dash, I discovered it was to do with the immobiliser system. After doing a search and finding the appropriate web sites regarding "spider" repairs, I have just spent the last hour or 2 pulling apart the dash only to discover that there is no spider unit where it is supposed to be. The vehicle is a 97 V8 D1 and, while the dash is out, I would like to be able to source the problem of my immobiliser light coming on before I reassemble the dash. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Glen.

Righto - further developments have lead me to remove the "little green box" above the LHS kick panel. For quite a while (although it seams to have stopped) I had a noise in this same vicinity which sounded like a relay clicking on and off very rapidly. This noise only occurred occasionly and not for very long periods. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to its occurence. I was wondering if there may be some kind of connection between my dash light and this relay noise. Also the car has just recently started to cut out when running on petrol. It only happens momentarily, but it is enough to stall the vehicle when idling, and then often won't start on petrol afterwards. The problem doesn't happen when running on Lpg so I was thinking it was maybe the fuel pump until I heard about the spider unit.
The other thing that happens - which seems to be a very common thing - is the hazards turning on when driving over corrugations. This can be quite an annoying thing when you live in the Kimberley as a lot of the roads I regularly travel on are corrugated. I am lead to believe that the cause of the problem is an inertia switch which is located within this "little green box". I was just wondering if there was any way to bypass the inertia switch.
I currently have the "little green box" apart and, to my eye, I can't see anything visibly wrong with it. I would love to find out some answers to my questions - if anybody has any - before I start to reassemble everything again.
Cheers
