    Dry as a bone.

Took off my rear drive flanges yesterday and was shocked to find them bone dry on the Puma.Surley they should be assembled with a blob of grease to prevent ware and the rust that had already started.

My 90 is lubed with grease and after 325000km's,still running on originals.Anyway, refitted with a retaining compound to reduce clonks and going to do the front soon.

The best option is to convert them to be oil lubricated.

Retaining compound is only a temporary fix - they will work loose and start to wear. For some reason LR have been instructed to do the retaining compound trick as well.

It's a Land rover botch fix. They should make the parts properly from the start.I'm planning to fit Aschcroft shafts and flanges in the near future,so till then,i want to see how the retaining compound will fare.I did not use loctite though but Permatex bearing mount.
