Get a new earth cable. Choose on from the selection they have on the wall at Supercheap, Repco, Autobarn, etc.
I am continuing my prototype D2A Dual battery mount. It puts two optimas in the standard position. In fitting the two batteries I have an issue. The black earth lead will not reach the -ve terminal on the main battery, without undoing the crimp on earth strap where it bolts to the terminal on the chassis. My non auto elec brain says there are two possible options:
1. extend the lead (remove the stock terminal, extend the cable, leave stock earth strap in place)
2. extend the earth strap (buy a cheap flat braided earth strap, bolt it to chassis, bolt it to stock earth strap.)
I like the second one, but am ready to take advice.
TIA, Hamish 71

D'oh!....the bleedlingly obvious, Option 3. New lead.
Thanks.
option 4.
custom fabricate one...
theres no reason you cant do a negative-negative clamp bridging cable then run an earthing strap off of that.

grab 2 earth clamps with the screw terminal on them. like this(they're availalbe with wingut setups) then run a properly crimped eye terminal cable. one from battery negative-battery negative and then another from negative terminal to earth.
The main advantages of doing it this way is the ease of disconnecting a battery if it goes bad and the ease of disconnecting the earth for repairs/storage/basic antitheft.
