    Leaky Defender

    2004 110.

I am sure that all Defenders leak to some degree and that this question has been asked a million times already.

When it rains I get water running from my head lining at the corner where the windscreen/roof pillar meet. I have just removed my headlining expecting to be able to trace the source. Although my head lining has a damp area at the corner I am none the wiser. The only other suspicious area where the water may be getting in is the rubber around the door opening.

Also I seem to have water coming in on both sides from the 3 bolts that seem to connect the windscreen frame to the body. They are located at approx dash board height each side. I havent had chance to fix that yet but I am guessing its a easy fix.

Any advice will be gratefully received.

    Thanks.

Have you downloaded the "Defender Water Ingress Manual" from the Files==>General section yet?

The water from the roof may be coming in just about anywhere - the point you see it tends to be the lowest, helped by putting on the brakes. Look in the gutters for signs of sealant missing or cracked. Could also be a leak around the roof windows.

Windscreen bracket bolts are in an area of high pressure when driving, and water will come in along the threads if the gasket under the bracket is not perfect. I would replace it and add some sealant.

It doesn't show up in a search (or I couldn't get it to).

Go to the "Files" link at the top of the page, then into the "General" section.

    Or here's a link here:

Also, check the roof gutters above the A pillar. I have seen small fractures there. Easily fixed with some sealant.

Thanks for that. I think there are a few areas of interest there. Do you know where I can get some Dum Dum in W.A. or similar product.

    Leaky Defender

I fixed mine by pouring epoxy resin into both side gutters (inside),. Jim
