front diff housing repair 3 options

I have a replacement in good condition. That I was planning on swooping it with.

    1. Do I fabricate a guard to bolt on to the replacement housing and stop the damage happening.

    2. Fabricate a reinforcing guard and weld it onto the replacement so the filler stays the same and the lower half is 10mm thick.

    3. Cut of the front of the housing and weld on a pipe end cap of the right size to give clearance to the steering rod.

    Or a better idea

    This one.

1 can fall off. 1 and 2 can cause the pan to rust out. Neither add extra strength to the axle tube.
