Thread: rear folding step.

No idea, but they're only held on by one long bolt, going through two eyes.
Wouldn't be hard to fabricate / fit.

If it's to access the roof, i'd be looking at something else like an over wheel step or a rear ladder. The folding steps are great for your purpose, and once weight is on them, are a fair bit lower than the rear bar.

The Disco 2 fold down step is not so much fold down but lowers under weight and his held up by a gas charged strut. Was fitted for the 7 seat option.
I got given one a few years back by a LR dealer with the intention of fitting to the Defender but did not get around to it. Gave it to the owner of a D1 that fitted it in about an hour. I think from memory there was a mounting point there already. Would not take much to weld on a mount if there is nothing suitable there to attach it to.

I'm pretty certain they fit through the holes for the tie down points on the chassis. Not sure exactly where the gas strut fits onto though. Only problem I found was the gas struts don't seem to last very long. In the UK you will see hundreds (if not thousands) of Disco's with the rear step just hanging down.

in Sweden al 7-seats have them.
it is esy to put it on it is fittid in the tie down hole
and the gas thing is bolted on the step.
i dismounted mi step yester day due to rost 2 bolte, but the
gas-demper is okej after 7 year in sweden whit salt on the roads
in 5 month in the snowe winter so the gas-demper will not be a
problem. it is a 10 min work.
sorry fore the bad english
