Just going thru this issue with my grader,all new tandems/drives fitted less than 400 hours ago.There was a LOT of iron on the drain magnet on the side that failed.May have been a poor housing clean out by an apprentice.
They have been back and checked bearings for tightness and freeplay,an all day job,everything seems AOK.Oil sampling ever 50 hours for a while just to make sure all is OK.If the original oil sample comes back as high in chromium they will dismantle.
