What did you do on your Landy today?

Tried to fit a new TD5 front prop-shaft to the 300Tdi but couldn't for the life of me get the damn thing to telescope/slide out. :mad: Took an hour to get old one off as well :mad:

So now I have no front prop-shaft.

Have to head around to the old-man's tomorrow with the centre diff locked and borrow his shed, see if I can get this new prop-shaft to move.

I think I have found the job I hate the most on the Deefer. I'm going to have nightmares about those :censored: nuts and bolts on the TC end :mad:

Hey Steane, does it have a grease nipple on it? You may be able to fill it which will push it out. Grease will act as a hydrolic pusher, but only if the nipples in the right spot.

Hi Chops,

Yep, it's got a grease nipple on the shaft to lube the splined section. Good idea, thanks for suggesting that :cool: I'll pump a bit of grease in there tomorrow and see if that makes it want to move. Then I'll start belting it with a mallet:mad: carefully:D

A vice two people and a rubber mallet got the new front prop-shaft to extend. Interestingly the splines look like they are coated in a teflon type coating (blue):o

Anyway, new prop-shaft with larger uni-joints and yokes is in. Taken another level of harshness out of the drivetrain (unis were getting a bit sloppy).

Fitted a winch to the ARB bar. Had to build some spacer blocks and cut down some bolts to suit.

Also fitted some front mud flaps. Had to mod brackets and the mud flaps to fit under the sliders.

Three jobs that took 6 hrs. Where does all the time go?:eek:

pulled the air con clutch coil out to try and fix it, and broke it.

New clutch master cylinder, that bottom bolt is a real pain! Next job is the fuel pressure reg valve, brake pads, shockies and suspension bushes.

Still churning through my list of todos after buying the disco 1. Greased all shafts, checked the swivel-pins for oil/grease (grease), lubed the lr/hr/cdl linkages and worked them a bit (still going on this - they all work now though), cleaned the dog hair and crap out from the previous owner, cleaned the a/c drains and tried to dry the carpets and underlays, replaced the driver-side door rubber with clark-rubber recommended (from this forum) stuff (no noise! yah), checked electrical runs to the andersen plugs out the back and cleaned them, removed about half a tonne of sand from the car from the previous owner ("no we NEVER took it off road!"). Relocated the jack to clear space for the new dual battery setup...then started working on the wifes Ford...its SO low to the ground :-)

You don't have to go off road to get sand in the car. I'll loan you the kids for a trip to the beach.

Perhaps you are right, my 6 year old and his mates can add this much sand to the lounge when they are around for play dates .... AND WE DONT HAVE A SANDPIT! Ah well, will keep cleaning. :-)
