    89 RR Classic Alternator

Any good advice on how to go about replacing (or is it better to recondition) the original Marinetti Marelli 65 amp? alternator on my 3.9 litre (v belts)? Finally fading out after 212,000 km.

Just visit a wrecking yard or auto electrician and purchase a Bosch alternator with similar mounting legs. You will need an internal connection for the tacho output, the sparkie should be able to do it. Bosch alts are commonly available in 80 to 120 amp versions. Old XF Falcon alts have a suitable tacho connection and are easy to fit, but are usually 50 amp. One could easily be upgraded with 80 amp parts.
