I have a 99 Defender ECU with a Davis chip in it and a Nanocom

So I am looking to chip my 99 TD5 and since it is not a flashable chip it severely limits the options that I have (At least from what I glean from the interweb)
So I have come to two options:
1 - TRS Chip/Replacement ECU
2 - Update to the NNN ECU and then go to one of the other methods.
I have a couple of questions about these though, with the TRS Chip what MAP will I get, is it just a standard one that TRS put together? Peoples experience with this?
Other than Plugging in a NNN ECU what else will I need to do to make it work?
I know there are lots of threads on this already but I have read lots if not all of them and I cant decide which route to go down.
Also the Engine is at 210k km's will the chip "blow" the engine up sooner than usual? Is it worth putting the money into this or should I save up and recondition the engine then think about chipping it?

I also have a a '99 TD5 auto...been thinking of a chip as well. Steinbauer quote an increase in KW, from 101 to 121 and NM from 340 to 408. that is about a 20% increase in hores power....cost about $1500 for the chip. Looks easy to plug in and the instalation instructions are clear.
What are the costings for the others under discussion in this thread? What are the resulting power increases?
They quote the factory NM figures for the manual as 300NM and the auto as 340NM... why are the auto figures higher?
Great talking point.......![]()
