    Installing front Boge shock issues

    Hi Guys,

    Just a little frustrated atm.

I'm installing some new Boge front shocks on my RRC 93 but There isn't enough room to install all the washers. I gather you're suppose to use; washer, rubber, washer, washer, rubber, washer. To get enough thread I'll need to omit one of the locating washers. This is the same for top and bottom. Will this flog out the rubber quick if I do this? I'm installing this on a terrafirma style shock mount. I notice the air suspension shock mounts don't use the central locating washers but use the cups.

    Suggestions?

    cheers

Pics might help- it should (?) be washer-rubber-cup-cup rubber-washer. That might be why you are running out of room. Whether or not rubber will flog out depends on what sort of bushes you've got. Again, pics will help.

yeah, I''ll see if I can get a couple of pics. There are 2 types of washers, the flat washer that has a small lip, (locating washers) and the other ones are the start and finish washers. I was trying to put the flat washer either side of the hole in the top of the shock mount. A total of 8 washers and 4 rubbers for the shock. I thought that each rubber should have a washer above and below it. Looks like the rubbers are nolathane as it's very hard.

I also don't have any metal cups for the rubbers to sit in as I've done the air to coil conversion.

    Cheers

    hi milld and others,

hoping your experience fitting the boge can help my situation. i've got an LSE which is on coils. measurements from centre of axle to guard are 470 front 505 rear. going on comments on this site and elsewhere standard is 470 front and rear.

i want to throw some boge/armstrong shocks on (they are very cheap ex UK) to get me through roadworthy and keep the soft ride then will look at getting EAS going. what did you do to get the fronts fitted? the shocks on the car are the EAS ones which are located outside of the coil. i assume rear will fit anyways even with the slight rear end lift?

    cheers,
    brett.

    Hi there,

You need to install the boges inside the coils like earlier Rrc. They won't fit outside like the EAs shocks. I got lowered shock turrets because of the lifted springs as I wanted to keep the boges and not lose travel. Out if topic but I find my springs to stiff for my liking, 190lb fronts and 240lb rear. Anyone got a good set of softer 2" lifted springs they want to sell?

    Cheers
