    suffix B input gear

    can anyone tell me if the cross drilled input gear from suffix C on LT230's will fit in a suffix B LT230. From eye, the only real difference i can see is the PTO drive gear on the end and the teeth on the input gear are wider.

    for those who need to know, the only real difference is the wider teeth, according to ashcrofts, so just waiting on conformation whether or not its ok to use

    Yes I think landRover changed the tooth form a few times over the years in an effort to make the transfercase quieter.I saw a gearset amongst a pile of bits at a swap meet with teeth so fine that I reckon I could easily break one off with a pair of pliers.
    If you can buy a replacement suffix B gear it is possible to carefully cross drill it yourself with a carbide drill bit.

    was nothing wrong with the gear in mine, i just wanted a crossed drilled one, so after ordering the wrong one, i had a go at cross drilling mine. After finding the correct drill bit to use in the shed, i gave it a go, took 20mins and it now has 4x8mm holes in it
