Naa, i don't think you could say they grew out of Ampol, I'm guessing that Peter Vicary was able to use Pioneer money as he had a big concrete supply business in Penrith at the time and probably bought a lot or maybe all of his cement from Pioneer, although that's not to say they didn't use Ampol brains in terms of setting up the blending, etc.Quote:

I use it all the time, I have had no issues in the 2 years I've been using it in everything from small petrol mower engines to 150hp tractors, both our cars and every thing in between that I maintain.
I used to use Valvoline by the 205ltr but they are just painful to deal with around here and I can get the GW oil from my local auto parts supplier (R&E Auto's) for a really good price meaning more profit margin for me.
The only problem I have with it is the 20ltr drums are taller than the Valvoline ones and so my drum pump doesn't make it to the bottom.....and I have not got around to putting a bit of hose on the bottom yet to extend it.

I have used GW top dog in my disco 300tdi for about 5 years except the last 2 services as I havnt been able to find it. Have now found a source for GW and will start using it again,

Having recently purchased a TD5 I have been looking for a good oil without having to mortgage the house. I started a thread on this in D2 forum. In this thread I found Rick 130 is an oil guru.
I stumbled on this Gulf Western oil yesterday so I sent Rick a PM with the specs. He said it was a good oil, so I will be starting to use it.
Im due for a oil change in my Td5 when I get home,
just looking at the GW site it looks like their 'Euro Energy' 5w30 oil seems about right,

I agree . The LR book says that 5/30 is good to 35 degrees. I know that you live in Melb, but with summer coming on there will be plenty of days over 35.
Even if there weren't, lets say most days got to 34. I always believe when sizing something, to stay well away from the max recommended. Eg. If I was looking to buy a car for towing and my loaded van weighs 1800kg. I would not buy a vehicle that has a max towing capacity of 2000 Kg, even though it would do the job. I would look for something that would tow 2500 Kg.
