I assume it is a V8.
The engine number is on the left hand side of the engine. If you look from the top on the left hand side between the centre two exhaust outlets it is there but you might need a torch and mirror to get at it.

I have just been for a RWC in QLD on a stage 1 i have recently purchased.
Drag link tie rod end
stone chip windscreen
swivel hub and front drive shaft (my guess is its actually the cv thas shot)
and the "mechanics" (if thats what they really are) cant find the engine number
so I am chasing anyone that may have an old front diff (3.54 ratio)
and anyone who may have windscreens for series 3 I need to purchase these within next 2 weeks
PLEASE HELP
oh i also need to know where the eng no. is so i can show em when i go back

This is a regular question and it just so happens that I have a 3.9 on stands that I can get easy access at so those pics get listed a bit. I have never been able to see the engine number on the 3.5 in my 101.
Also that head bolt you can see in both pics is the same head bolt so links the pics.
