What if your vehicle has the equivalent of a 4" lift as standard and runs 35/36" as standard.

For the dedicated,If one is prepared to cut sheetmetal, there is no necessity to raise the suspension on Series/Defender type Landrovers in order to run 35s.
Free standing headlamps are still available, legal to use and could drop the headlight height down by a few inches.Softer, lower springs with polyairs could get the height down a couple more. And as for 35s, I think we've already established that they were a factory option, diameter wise at least.
Wagoo.
Yes Bill,my headlight height is fine, and the body has had the necessary mods to allow fitment of the 35's,BUT the legal fitting of fitting larger tyres to certain models, just because they are fitted to another model by the same manufacturer isn't allowed,as I mentioned earlier, even without a compliance plate, which didn't come into effect in Australia till 1st August 1971,it will be on a model by model basis, not make by make. And a series 2 or 3 FC is not the same model as a series 2 or 3 109.And there were no options for a 110 or Defender.

im guessing a volvo
Good old 101 landy.
Over seas they fit 20 inch mog wheels to gear them up a bit.
I am interested in this a bit as I am going though the new tyre process now.
The MRF 900x16 now fitted were 35 inch dia when new and are now 34 inch worn.
I am replacing them with Simex centepede 36.4 inch dia.
The bar treads are not up to the performance of the vehicle on or off road.
Wagoo what sort of money are you paying for yours >
The new wheels needed for the Simex are the same as the standard 6,5 inch rim but has a extra bit of width to make them 8 inch and this width is to the out side of the wheel.
I figure this would just place me on the correct side of the law.
The Mich Z series to replace the 900x16 measure about 36 inch on a good day , may be when new..
I should be able to get 12 inches under the diff centres with the new set up
Ron. I payed $400 each for the Simex a couple of years ago, same price TSL Q78s I bought ar the same time. Surely they would be cheaper now with the strong Aus dollar?
wagoo.
Though a local tyre dealer I am looking at 500 dollars a pop, fitted and balanced.
I may be able to get them on the net for just over 400 dollars, but I would have to pay three lots of freight at 89 dollars to keep under the one K tax limit for 5 tyres and still pay locally for fitting and balancing.
The local dealer will let me do lay by too.
