    elect guage problems

    Hello all ...

    vehicle is a 1997 defender

    my fuel gauge light died , so pulled the fascia off the dash replaced the globe , life is good .

    So test everything before putting the screws in and waddya know the fuel and temp gauge no workie .
    I turn the head lights on and they work .... turn the head lights off gauges stop working ....

    So where and what should I be looking for and starting on ?
    I figure it's prob an earth drama , but don't really know !

    There are numerous earths connected to the back of gauges, with a common connector etc. You'll haveto pull it off again to take a squiz.

    Each gauge has an earth lead, they then all meet up to a common wire/ joiner bunched together behind the facia. Just have to follow them back...as you would've seen, its all a bit Heath Robinson behind there..
