If the battery was completely discharged its an even bet that's its ruined. Not uncommon. Got any warranty left?
Hi all,
Battery has gone 2 nigts ago.Nothing left on in vehicle. Thought it would be some elect gremlin so got a multimetre today.
Recharged battery over night. Flat again this morning.
Got a multimetre on the battery - it seems (according to the Metre) that battery is losing power rapidly.
i.e. going down before my eyes on the meter. Is this even possible or is the multi metre stuffed? It is a new metre.
I have disconnected the leads tonight - so l guess if battery is flat in the moring it is the battery. I just can't believe a battery can lose power like??? Never know this to happen before.
Battery is not even 12 months old. Is a selaed unit (Century l think). Not a cheapie. Heavy Duty unit.
Any help/advice appreciated.
(PS It is in the farm ute - an RA Rodeo). Sorry............

Yeah. W'nty maybe. Diggin out the invoice.
Would it be losing voltage this rapidly though? It charged up fine the first night. Then lost all charge again. It is getting upto 11.8 (fully charged is 12.40 or so). But when multi metre on the volts just drop away constantly.
Is it just battery or is it the vehicle?
Hmmm...

I've had truck batteries "collapse" on me within 2 hours necessitating a pushstart, fortunately i had enough air for the brakes

I will check the voltage in the battery this morning. I am confident it will be bugger all - that it has dis-charged itself overnight...again. I left it disconnected from the vehicle this time.
If it is flat - l assume it will be the battery for sure. I would like to get car started to see if the alt is charging????

Ok.
Battery tested at 11.15 last night. After all day on charger - which is not good.
This morning reading is 10.85 - which as we all know is dead flat.
Never had a battery self drain like this...partic as it is new.
So it is the battery - not the vehicle.
Thank,
Mike
