Kickdown cable length 3.9 vs 300tdi

As many will know I have fitted a Thor intake manifold to my 3.9 RRC.
One of the results of that is that for the last 6 years I have been successfully running a "Heath Robinson" kickdown cable arrangement using the original 3.9 kickdown attached to an intermediate bracket on the manifold then crimped to a bicycle brake cable to a home made spindle on the Thor throttle body.
This cable has worked well for 6 years , however now has developed internal "stiction" and I want to replace it. Another reason is that because I have the intermediate bracket on the Thor manifold , the angles necessary to go from North south on the manifold side to east west at the throttle spindle almost guarantee some internal binding.
It occurs to me that the 300Tdi cable is probably quite a bit longer than the 3.9 cable as it is on the other side of the engine.
Does anyone know how long the 300tdi cable is, or how long the Falcon Efi cable is that a poster alluded to some time ago.
The other alternative is to have a custom cable made up by a cable place so if anyone has an old 3.9 cable to sell me cheap, I would appreciate it as the fittings could be used on a custom cable the correct length.
    Regards Philip A

    hi philip,

not sure if of any use to you. with my thor conversion I ran the original kickdown cable around the back of the motor to run along side the driver side rocker cover. it finishes part way along the length of the rocker cover. I put the 4.0 litre rocker covers on which have two places where I assume there were spark plug lead holders. In these two spots I put a right angle bracket which on one end held the original cable and the other bracket held the end of a cable I had made up. this new cable then ran through the standard fittings on the thor manifold and finished on the throttle body where I added an arm to receive the cable end.

Although it entailed getting a cable made this set up kept the standard cable on the transmission but allowed three points of adjustment which make it straightforward to get the setting right.

I went to a cable mate place and it cost around $80 to get the cable made.

    hth,
    brett.
