Anyone had experience with Chinese Air Lockers

As Above, any info would be useful, I am looking at 2 Chinese companies, 1. Tenda, 2. DIYTrade.
I know they are cheap, around $520 delivered from Mainland China, but I would like to hear from anyone that has had hands on with these products. There's a bloke in brissy (eBay) selling the same Lockers for $895 and $30 post. I know I'll get " you only get what you pay for", still I would like some first hand knowledge, good or bad, Regards Frank.

Funny you should mention that. I was talking to someone just last Sunday about these. Initial reports seem to be that they are pretty good. In some cases components were branded ARB (switches, etc) and the rest looked very much like pattern copies or unbranded ARB clones (that is, made in the same factory but not branded so they may have been seconds or just taken off the production line). They came complete with compressor, pipes, wires and everything else you need.

The real differences, you are not paying for the brand (∴ will be cheaper) and they come with all the bits you need for installation instead of having to buy compressor, etc. over and above your lockers.

I think this is pretty simplistic.

What you are REALLY not paying for is the cost of design and testing of the product before the final design was arrived at after extensive testing.
Why do you think the Chinese things are OK? I would put forward that it is because of the design reputation of ARB.

Chinese ascribe no value to intellectual property and will copy anything they can get away with. When a Trade Commissioner in Asia I used to try and advise Australian companies that they would not succeed with simple products as the product would be copied within minutes. I use to have them articulate to me what their USP was and what in their product could prevent /delay copying.

Australia shoulds have strong intellectual property legislation and seize these things at the borders.

    Hey play nice

I was just reporting the conversation I had. Anyway, if you had been in my head then I might have said the things you think are important to say too. But then that would have left nothing for you to say.

After viewing the ARB destruction test video I have noticed that the gear comparison (sun gears/side gears) shows an unfinished/unmachined chinese side gear and an ARB fully machined side gear, implying that the sun/side gears in the chinese locker are unfinished. Except that when the broken chinese hemisphere is dismantled the gears are clearly finish machined, so what's happening here. Is ARB saying that the Chinese locker broke because the side/sun gears are not machined, as that is clearly not the case and the point at which the Chinese diff broke is fairly impressive at 6412 ft. lbs. of torque, not any 4wd's around putting out that sort of torque.
I'm not saying the ARB is not the top of the heap, but the Chinese locker can't be ignored and ARB shouldn't need to bodgey up their video to discredit the imitation, clearly the ARB is superior, but he chinese is damn cheap, Regards Frank.

How old is that video? At least 2-3 years from memory.

Thanks. I thought something didn't look quite right there. To be honest though as soon as I saw that ARB were making this video I thought to myself, "hmmm must be something to these things after all."

Having a patsy video isn't that great a look for Simon C. But he's got to support his main promoters I guess.

I've looked at the video a couple of times and I cannot see that the Chinese gears are finish machined in the after shots. Maybe I need some better glasses.....
