Diff Centre and Axle Swap Cost

HI all, I have a 2003 Disco 2a and have just gotten hold of a new Detroit Locker and Ashcroft axles for the rear diff.

I am wondering what an approximate cost is to get someone to swap the centre and axles over and also replace the diff bearings and pinion seal.

A Diff shop here on the Sunshine Coast wants over $700 and started making excuses about how you need to machine the pinion etc and it may cost much more.

Anybody had this sort of work carried out, is this cost reasonable.

    Regards Gordo

Have you tried British offroad, have found there labour prices to be quite reasonable.

Are you not handy enough with the tools to give it a crack yourself?

No thats not the problem. The crown wheel has to be swapped over so needs to be correctly shimmed up. I dont think I can do that part.

Given your location I'd definitely recommend you talking to the British Offroad folks, but someone else already mentioned them.

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
