    D3 Air conditioning compressor failure

Just wondered if anyone had ever had their air conditioning compressor seize on their D3?

Mine did this morning, so the pully is not moving at all but the engine will run, so what I can see is happening is the serpentine belt slipping on the seized pully. Obviously I can't drive it or the belt will fail and cause other even bigger problems needless to say.

I have been told this is quite a big job to replace the compressor unfortunately.

Has anyone else had to replace a compressor on thier D3? And if so roughly how much did it cost? ... if I can be so nosey to ask.

    cheers,
    Terry

Hi Terry - it's not a huge job but one for the professionals.

if you turn off your AC it should disengage the clutch so you can drive it. if it doesn't pull the single wire clip apart at the compressor then see if it free spins. If it still doesn't then you have also totalled your clutch as well.

I've been out of the auto AC game for to long to even try to guess what one would cost; but so you know: they will have to replace the filter drier as well and I'm not sure if they will charge for oil? I would think it would come with the compressor
