    ARB AIR LOCKER QUESTION

Ok just need some verification before i lose my mind.
I just fitted my arb air locker and compressor and thought aside from an air leak that I'm fixing tomorrow it worked fine, until i went to take the dozer to the car wash to give it a clean before i changed my front drive shaft. The problem i think im suffering from is the front locker is locked on so i cant turn. I just pulled it out of the driveway and had to go straight back in.
Is this because of the air leak or could it be something else. It didnt do it before i installed the compressor so i'm thinking it has something to do with pressure not being released.??? any answers?? I need to fix this before the friday or im going to suffer on the birthday bash. Or just unplug it from the compressor and go front locker free.
    Please help

Hi Nicho, yes it sounds as though the air isn't being dumped, recheck the solenoid and switch wiring, if not able to be solved in time just go locker free

Thanks Justin looks like im disconecting the solenoid after work. Think i spent too much time making the switch panel pretty and not enough time testing. I have to get my drive shaft changed i have no choice.

test: engage the locker then switch off. If the air is not bleed out, go to the solendoid and disconnect the air hose.

Jack one wheel off the ground and test if unlocked, then refit the hose end re-engage and test. If it frees up you may have had some wind up in the front diff locking it.

If it appears to be wind up, you need to be carefull not to use on high traction surfaces and when you disengage do it with the wheels in the staight ahead position, roll forward slowly rocking the steering wheel if the pressure stays on, reverse and repeat the rocking. These techniques have worked for me.

    Solenoids

    Hi nicho,

I think what you have done is connect the solenoid "upside" down. It is possible to to fit the air line screw cap and the solenoid to compressor joiner the wrong way round. How do I know this, its what i did and I had the same symptoms that you describe. I was able to lock the diff but it would not release when switched off. swap them round and I think it will be OK. Drove me nuts for a couple of hours

    Cheers Nino.

Oh since I forgot to mention what the problem was I thought I better.

The solenoid was in upside down. As soon as I loosened off the fitting the air escaped. I reinstalled it te right way around and stopped all air leaks and bingo the stupid things works tried and tested fully this time.
