    D1 300tdi problem

    G-day everyone
i have a small problem with my disco, I went off road this weekend and now my rev counter has decided to die on me.
Everything else is working ok but its really annoying not having it.
Any ideas as to what may be causing this to malfunction would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
    Justin

Not familiar with them but do they run a wire from the alternator like the petrol? Might be loose/come off?

Dead right, also check the alternator is actually working (warning light comes on with key, goes out with starting, volts rise to around 14V with a few revs). Otherwise you may suddenly run out of electrickery altogether!

    rear of alternata

i had the same problem on my 300tdi. In the rear of the alternator there is a small wire with a plastic connector. jiggle this connector to better the electrical connection. if this doesnt fix it you may have more serious problems.
