Thread: 300 tdi auto fluid on transfer case

yep, tcase is filled with auto fluid and the tcase is leaking OR...

the rear output seal on the Auto is on the way out and its leaking out from between the auto and the tcase, running down the inspection plate and gathering on the lower bolts getting ready to drip off.

As for the rest of the car, well isn't rust just great at hiding under carpets, found a fist sized hole in the floor to boot

It'll be the trans output seal, they will drip down between the transfer and trans and run out along the bottom cover bolts.

On closer inspection it is coming from between the mateing surfaces of the auto and tcase, so perhaps an auto output seal it is. Thanks.
I guess it needs fixing if I'm to take this bucket around oz!

I heard tell there might just be a reputable mechanics down that way somewhere round davenport I believe.

You are talking about driving for days in a straight line across flat dusty country where you can see the curvature of the Earth on the horizon.

Try walking from Devonport to Kingston in a straight line.

If you don't collapse from exhaustion from climbing, or drown in one of the thousands of lakes and rivers.

You may succumb to hyperthermia from exposure from the cold winds or sunburn due to the fact that Tasmania is under the ozone hole.

Then if you step on one of the worlds most poisoness snakes, the Tiger snake and get bitten, Tasmanian Devils will, clean you up, bones and all.

A strong possibility of dying also from hunger whilst being bush wacked, deep in some horizontal scrub where the light can't reach the ground.

And if all that isn't enough, half of the island's driver's are f-m-le, that dont like people straying across their back yards, so they take aim in their Corolla's.

Or the t/case might have a fluid like Castol Syntrax or Redline which are dyed red ?

Unscrew the t/case filler and dip your finger in to check the fluid colour

If it isn't red it's the auto, if it is, well, I'd suspect the t/case intermediate shaft O ring, especially if the leaking fluid has the tell tale sulphur odour of a diff/manual gearbox oil.
