    Final drive ratio

    I'd like to change the gearing on the D2 to achieve 100kph at 2500rpm,
    or there abouts.

    (or find another 50nm)

    is this even feasable?
    The D2 is (currently) leak free and running well, so can I achieve this another way rather than engine mods?

    yes? no?
    pros?
    cons?
    $$?

    It should be doing that now.... 2700 rpm is 112 km/h

    What are you currently doing at 100km/h?
    Tyre size?

    assuming 3.54 diffs and std TC 1.2 gearing and a zf

    29" tyres = 2249 @100
    30" tyres = 2174 @100
    31" tyres = 2104 @100

    swapping to 4.11 difs

    29" = 2611 @ 100
    30" = 2524 @ 100
    31" = 2460 @ 100

    Info from the ratio calculator at ashcrofts site

    Pedro,

    Regarding tuning on the V8 D2's the only option I have found that is to take it into Graeme Cooper Automtive.

    They install a Haltec Piggyback ECU and re-tune the vehicle on the dyno to suit your fuel type etc.

    Reported gains are between 10% - 15%

    Price $1300 drive in - drive out plus fuel to Sydney and back.

    The only true way to get power from a Petrol engine..

    Either:

    -Force Induction
    -Bigger displacement
    -Valves, Cam, Porting

    In this case Pedro I'd think...Towing at 100 km/h at 2500 rpm on stock size tyres would be close to 3rd Locked...

    If you want more torque re-breathe the engine (heads & Cam)

    If you want even better torque - Time for a TD5...
    You'll also be able to avoid having to stop every service station

    Defender TC gear set could be another options.

    1.4 as opposed to 1.2

    On 29" tyres that would give you 2589 at 100k's with everything else std.

    30" would be 2503 @ 100

    The 3.75 set looks a good compromise,,

    using a 1.4 defer transfer gives me 2600 at exactly 100kays
