The problem is I need to get it running properly for the time being it is my only mode of transport at the moment .

I just need it to be reliable at the moment , it is hard to start when its hot also it will not idle properly when it's hot .

Has it got oil in the dash pots?? Checked the spark plug gaps? I can't remember off the top of my head what the timing should be set at but I'd start at around 6-7 degrees btdc and see how it runs. If the carbs need adjustment you may need to see someone wuth an exhaust gas anyliser as they are a bit fiddley. I wouldn't touch mine at all.

Thank you sneezy it did not have oil in the dash pot's but I did top them up .

I have not checked the plug gap yet it had new plug's and leads before I got it but I will check them anyway .

I would like to take it to someone to tune it for me but everyone I have phoned say's they don't know anything about them or they are too busy so I guess I am about to learn all about Range Rover petrol V8's

There is no Land Rover dealer in Mt Isa the closest is Alice spring's about 600km's drive .

the engine has twin Stromberg type 175 CD-se carburettor's ? on a 3.9ltr V8 Rover engine .

Could you tell us what it does that you feel is not right?ie stalls, won't idle. The more info you can give the better.
