They are for decoration only. There is absolutely no way they can focus, and light output is very low. Best avoided.
In searching for an H3 bulb for a reversing spotlight I came across H4 headlight bulbs in an led.
Has anyone used these and are they any good? Will they put out the light distance that a standard halogen 100/100w bulb will? Or better? And are they legal for road use as the primary headlight bulbs on a vehicle?
Just curious.

That was my first thought. There are a few complete LED headlight units available in the us which seem pretty good though. Can't imagine they'd be cheap.
I'm currently running 100/100w and they are reasonable but not brilliant. I don't really want to go to HID and the thought of spending close to $50 a bulb for some of the ultra bright ones seems a bit silly, I was hoping for a happy medium but alas probably will stick to what I have.
OK I'm interested in LED headlights where in the US have you located them (please)![]()
I only came across a webpage advertising one manufacturer, found through google. Try [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4-kbu5TCTo"]Truck-Lite LED Headlight Installation & Comparison - YouTube[/ame] They showed a video installing them on a Jeep wrangler or similar as a complete 8 inch round headlight that replaces your H4 or sealed beam. There are also odd ones on ebay ranging around the $200 price range but once again in the us. Not sure how legal they'd be in aus though.
SSSHHhhh Frank,,, - the 100W low beams are cooking the insides of his fittings, building up a film inside the lens-glass, and on the reflector. Pretty soon his light output will be less than a clean 'normal' wattage headlamp in good condition... But the scatter will make them appear brighter.
Eventually, the glare from this film might interest the gendarmes....![]()
