if your not going to make it do lots of work go grab a cheap compressor then strip the plastic protection off of it, the protection makes up about 1/2 of the size of it.
I have one you can have
I am searching for a compact (and I do mean compact) air compressor.
Intended purpose is for use on a motorbike for reinflation of tyres etc.
There are a number of "motorcycle" compressors on the market but they are nothing more than a glorified air mattress inflater (that is, VERY slow).
So I'm asking the impossible - a very compact air compressor with half decent inflation speed.
Need to be able to inflate a bike tyre up to around 40psi (or perhaps a tad more) and a bike tyre air volume is obviously significantly smaller than that for a car or 4wd tyre.
Any thoughts, tips, hints or ideas ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Yes but would need to be careful because under the seat there is plastic everywhere and I wouldn't want to melt any of it - those compressors can get hot.
There's also the issue of current draw. Not sure what the alternator of the bike puts out.. should be more than enough though I assume.

Why not just get the CO2 cartidges and fittings . Can't get much more compact than that. BMW also make a hand pump if you are into hard work. Maybe a combination of teh two.

How many tyres do you need to inflate?
A few years ago a friend remanufactured his sump protection bar on a RRc, it was made with increased size of the main tube, sealed so it held air pressure then fitted a Schrader valve and pumped it up to about 120psi. It was only just enough to re-inflate 1 tyre from low pressure, before needing to be repressurised at a garage.
If your friend only wants to re-inflate one bike tyre once, and the wiring harness doesn't go through the frame, it may be possible to seal the frame and use it as a pressure vessel for the same purpose.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
thats what the battery is for...
the way Id pictured you using it is
pull it out, hook it up turn it on pump up the tyre turn it off, pack it up...
Ive just finished stripping it down, some clever application of 1 inch diameter hose, some hose clamps will protect things from the piston tube, and PET plastic from a coke bottle will make a suitable cover for the motor and the reduction gear.
IT fits inside the box my cable modem came in.

What friend?
Sealed frame as air tank not an option.
CO2 cylinders are a PITA. If you get a flat and repair it, there may still be a leak in it that you missed or the repair may not be fully done. It will take 1 or 2 cylinders before the leak is noticed and then you won't have enough cylinders left to reinflate the tyre once the repair has been properly effected.
Idea would be that I could assist numerous people with pumping up tyres if/when required on a longer trip. Keeping in mind that sports bikes, unlike mine, generally have bugger all room for anything like this and are restricted to the CO2 option.

Dave that sounds pretty good, assuming you haven't got a giant cable modem !
I am envisaging are mounted, hardwired setup however that leads to the next problem of airhose length - I suppose one of those coiled ones is the obvious solution.

It's from Bestrest products in the US. ( I think)
If you do a search on ADVrider.com you'll find a few good types.
I use one for Tyre swaps on my 1200GS without any issue. This includes seating the beads.
Not too sure you'd want to have it permanently mounted though. Mine sits in the Side Pannier & plugs into the Powerlet Socket on the side of the bike.
