Your model will probably have oil lubed hubs and drive flanges with longer axle splines, so unlike 300Tdi onwards Defenders it shouldnt be worn out axle splines and flanges unless very high KMs. Most likely wornout centre differential in the LT230. and/or gearbox mainshaft and transfer input gear spline wear. Removing the T/case PTO cover, scraping the rusty metallic paste from inside the gear will reveal spline wear. With gearbox and t/case in gear and handbrake released, Centre difflock disengaged,turning the front and rear t/case driveflanges in opposite directions you can roughly determin
the extent of centre diff wear.
