Audio connectivity problems
I have just brought a new Defender 110 series hard top to which I have had added a number of accessories which includes Audio iPod connectivity . The Land Rover info booklet states that this connection will automatically charge the iPod . On using the 5th generation iPod the connection does not charge the unit . I took it back to the Landrover dealership who installed it and they told me that the connection will not charge the iPod despite what the official Landrover booklet says . I connected Landrover cumstomer care with the problem and was told that the problem was too technical for them and I needed to go back to the dealership. I was wondering What have been other people's experience and are there any solutions ? thanks in advance

I spoke to Landrover customer care who stated the this issue was beyond their skill level and I needed to talk to the dealership .Whose is right the booklet or the dealership? What have been other owners experiences and is there a solution to this problem ?

Probably not..
It'll play, but not charge, is that right?
It's an Apple thing. They moved the charging pin to force you to upgrade.
My (aftermarket) ipod connector will charge the older ipods, but not an iphone. I haven't bought anything Apple since as a result.

Tusker hit the nail on the head.
It's not just a Landrover problem, my partner's 2009 Mitsubishi happily charges my iPod Classic but won't do iPod touch or iPhone even though they are the same vintage as the car.
Not ideal, but you may want to consider getting an older / newer iPod as appropriate just for music in the car.

Hi Max P
Thats right it plays but wont charge . We have a Impreza with the same system installed by the same dealership and the ipod works well - it was this fact that wonted the same system in the Landrover.
