Never used nanocom but try a hard reset by disconnecting the battery and put both leads together to drain residual voltage. If still no go try mobilisation code learn if the option listed
Hi there,
Im writing this on behalf of my dork brother...hes bought and registered a brand new nanocom for an ECU in a 2000 TD5 defender. The ECU has been chipped, by TRS, and all was working really well. And wait for this...1000 ks from anywhere, at Ningaloo in WA (great surf tho!) he plugged the nanocom into the car for the first time ever with a view to reading the RPM amd exhaust gas temp etc. However, in the process he has imobilized the ECU.
When the ignition is switched on theres power but the motor wont spin, fuel pump doesnt run and the lights on the dash are giving engine warning signals.
When he returned to the nanocom to re-trace his steps the following message keeps coming up:
unable to start the comms with the ECU
and once the messages below came up
-the ECU is imobilized
-SD card not present
When Dan was first connected it, the nanocom, asked for "set country", at first he put Australia...and after this the car was fried. (not neccessarliy due to this.)
To try to fix this he retraced his steps and changed the nationality to Australia no EKA.
Then he tried
Australia no MN
then
UK
the
rest of world.
He is certain he has only changed this nationality...nothing else
Help HELP
Dan has interrmittant access to a phone and its 3Ks from the car, so if theres anyone who may be able to help with nanocom experience, you could call me, Mike, on 0433139 025 or try Dan on 0417922927.
ps the phone belongs to a guy in a caravan who has no credit but good reception.

The way I read it the Nanocom needs to be plugged into a 12v adaptor to set it up,
NOT the OBD plug
Lets hope if he does this & sets up the Nanocom properly with the appropriate pass code for a TD5 Defender he then connects it to his ECU and cleares the fault.
Look on the bright side, a lot worse places to be stuck than Ningaloo.
I did the same thing some time ago - have a look at this thread
http://www.aulro.com/afvb/electronic...n-news-27.html
(especially posts 255 to 260 and 267) for the correct Australian settings for the Td5 Defender. Especially the one that enables/disables the Immobilizer.
It's a great relief when you reset and the motor fires once again.
Roger
Not correct the Nanocom runs off the OBD 12v supply.
If you want to download at home you can use a 240v to 12v adaptor.
Mine is permanently set up in my car.
As for the problem mentioned I do not know but maybe he has cleared the injector codes.
I would try the battery disconnect first.
Shame Tombie - Mike is not around he would know.
Try ringing TRS they should be able to sort you out.

Not so CraigE - the OP stated quite clearly what he had done, he uploaded the 'set country' codes for Australia which are incorrect and enable the engine immobiliser.
All he has to do to correct it is to hook up to the OBD socket and manually input the correct codes as indicated in the attachment on my previous post.

CraigE, The instructions i received with my Nanocom EVO state to use a 12v supply to initially set up the Nanocom unit with your unlock codes , once done then fine to connect it to OBD
For the record I have done all programing and setup of my Nanocom Evolution II using a USB 3 port on my laptop without any issues.
Roger is spot on if his fix is done it will start again
Sorry I have never set mine up using a 240v/12v adapter at all. It did not come with one and according to the manual is an option. Mine has run off the OBD power source from day one and has been fine. Even initially the set up was run on USB power from the laptop. Maybe as you are using the EVO it may be different, can not see why though a 12v supply is a 12v supply. And for the record the OBD power source is 12v and so should the USB on a computer.

It was only a suggestion, I have seen people inadvertently clear the injector codes without noticing and was just another thing worth checking. After all its not hard to check them. Yes you are undoubtedly right about the country setting.HTML Code:As for the problem mentioned I do not know but maybe he has cleared the injector codes.
