The cruise control is the least of your problems.
It's only hooked up mechanically at the throttle.
I'm not exactly sure where it gets it's signal from but it's not from the engine. It might be from the ABS (wheel speed sensors) or the transfer case (speedo transducer).
The tacho might need some working out as it gets it's signal from the alternator. I'm sure others here have overcome that though.
