Smile replacement remotes for 1995 Disco

Has anyone been able to find a cheap source of replacement remotes that work?
My two button remote (Australian frequency 315MHz) can be repaired in the UK for 40 pounds and they provide the interface dongle which plugs into the vehicle control system (you then send it back for a refund) but it's still a rip off when the average price for generic replacement remotes is about $15 (even a universal remote).

Has anyone tried a universal remote by teaching it from a Discovery remote?

Jason, if you have a 2 button remote, is it actually a 1996 model?? (TA VIN) The 1995 (MA VIN) had a single button remote. What is wrong with it? I have repaired quite a few and new they are about $90 + a synchronising fee.

Easier than replacing the whole system IMO. You CAN fit an aftermarket system and use the wiring that is already there for the factory system BUT this will ONlY allow central lock, if you have the immobiliser configured it causes a whole lot more pain.
